Confessions of a Colorist: The Muses Behind the Books
Share
Okay, confession time. People always ask me where the ideas for my coloring books come from. While some artists find their inspiration in grand landscapes or quiet moments, for me, it's a beautiful, joyful mix of everyday life, wonderful people, and a furry, four-legged creative team.
My two mini dachshunds and our new chiweenie are definitely at the heart of it all. You can find their goofy antics, funny sleeping poses, and quirky personalities all over my pages. But they’re not the only ones inspiring me! Sometimes, a friend will tell me a hilarious story that sparks a whole new idea for a playful, whimsical design. Other times, a family member will send me a photo that makes me smile, and a new page is born. Each of my books is a little collection of these moments—a reflection of the love and fun that fills my life.
I love the idea that my books are a collaboration. It's the people (and pups!) in my life who help provide the ideas, and I love seeing how their energy finds its way onto a page, waiting for you to bring it to life with color.
So, the next time you pick up one of my books and see a page that makes you smile, just know it probably started with a snore, a goofy pose, a loving family member, or a great story from a friend.
Happy coloring, everyone!
